Fira de Barcelona presents the Centennial Automobile Show to brands

The automotive sector will live next year in Barcelona an event of great notoriety: the centenary of the International Motor Show (Automobile Barcelona). It is the first fair in Spain that manages to reach a hundred years of existence. For that and for many other reasons, Congress has declared it an event of exceptional public interest.

Those responsible for the exhibition, organized by Fira de Barcelona, have presented today in Madrid the commercial proposal of the event to the brands of Anfac, the association of automobile manufacturers of Spain. At the request of the Salon and Anfac, presided over by Jose Vicente de los Mozos, the exhibition has received the recognition of an exceptional event and will entail specific benefits for the companies that collaborate in the promotion and celebration of the event.

The event, which will take place from May 11 to 19, 2019, will feature a new philosophy, already premiered in the 2017 edition, in which connectivity, autonomous driving, the internet of things and new models coexisted in the renowned Automobile Barcelona.

In the presentation to the brands of the sector, the management team of the room, headed by its president Enrique Lacalle, showed the new commemorative logo and explained the proposal of a contest that awaits the maximum number of manufacturers. The Centennial Hall will offer a tour of the history of the automobile in Spain, focusing on the transforming role of technology in the future of the industry.

Enrique Lacalle has acknowledged that “today we started the most important edition of the history of the show and a milestone not only for the automotive industry but for the exhibition sector in Spain.” Brands have received very favorable plans for an edition as important as this”. The president of the show believes that “next May Barcelona will become the world capital of the automotive industry, the place where this industry will show its power and brands will present their latest technologies, where visitors can take a tour of history and to enjoy in family not only the best models and the most modern cars, but they will be able to experience innovations of present and future “.

The celebration of the centenary will mean creating a chronological walkway that will take visitors from the first room held in 1919 in the Palace of Fine Arts of the Ciutadella Park to the Montjuïc site, where the exhibition has been held since 1927.
