Car sales grew by 10.7% in January, with 84,515 registrations
The Seat Ibiza was the best-selling model, with 2,455 deliveries; in a month in which Opel led, with 7,297 registrations.
The car market started the year with a double digit growth: 10.7%, with 84,515 cars and SUVs sold. From Anfac they emphasize that the numbers are motivated because there have been two working days more than in January of 2016.
If you compare the average sales per day reached in January 2017 with that of 2016, the increase is lower, remaining at 0.2%. There has been an average daily decline of 1.7% in the private channel. In addition, it has decreased 1% its weight in the total market, up to 53%.
These data, according to the manufacturers’ employers, corroborate the slowdown detected in the registrations in this channel, since last October, when the Pive plan was exhausted. In spite of the positive data of January, the sector is vigilant with this trend since, if it continues, it can lead to a decrease in sales and make it difficult to rejuvenate the car park, whose average age at the end of 2016 is 12 years .
Opel, leader; Ibiza, the best seller
By brands, Opel was the leader with 7,297 units. Second, Volkswagen, with 6,625 deliveries. Third, Seat, with 6,253 units registered. They completed the ‘top 5′ Peugeot, with 5,749 units and Toyota, with 5,648 deliveries.
As for models, the Seat Ibiza was the best sold in January, with 2,455 deliveries. Just a model that just presented its fifth generation. Behind, another of the Spanish brand, the Lion, with 2,329 sales. The third place was for the Volkswagen Golf, with 2,292 units. The Citroën C4, with 2,153 registrations was placed in the fourth place, ahead of Opel Corsa, with 1,960 units.
By channels, that of individuals is the one that grows the least, staying with 45,183 deliveries and an increase of 8.7%. For its part, the company reached 26,248 units, an increase of 13.6%. On the other hand, the renters registered 13,084 units, which represent a 12.3% more than in January of 2016.
Aniacam claims a new Pive
According to Aniacam, the data of registrations in January make necessary a new plan Pive, because the health of the market is in the channel of individuals. The manager pointed out that the Pive has a positive effect on the environment, while improving the accident rate. “If the private segment does not grow, the market will stagnate,” he added.
